Here is my entry for the "Journey Begins" challenge. I have never before worked on an image over such an extended period of time, so this was definitely a growing experience. It may not have turned out to be one of my strongest images, but I'm still proud of the effort put into it. I just finished reading this book and I loved it so much that I was inspired to make a painting. This is not supposed to be any particular scene in the book, and it's not -completely- true to the characters. I took some liberties in that area. My goal with this piece was to capture a bit of the atmosphere that I really enjoy about Thomas Wilmer Dewing's paintings, but also explore a painting style that is similar to my drawing style. I didn't really nail either of those things, but I had fun painting this anyway! Photo reference used.
